it's not the same problem. in the case of the panel, people actually do want the same contents and simply having a copy of it on each desktop that we somehow synchronize the applet layout on each but not the contents of ... yeah, that's not going to work at all. the applets will not be the same size depending on the contents, for instance, so it would be an imperfect illusion. and let's not even talk about the added overhead. > implemented by having Plasma provide one window per desktop, and > additionally the taskbar would have to specially handle the case when its > visible but not on the active desktop.
