Just for the record: You are both using name based vhosting, right? Does it go away if you youse ip based hosting (e.g. no NameVirtualHost directive)?
I have a mix of both. If I connect to the IP for NameVirtualHost it does the lock on the other IPs too, even if they are just IP vhosts.
