It's a tool designed for one thing, and that's compressing video down to a size and a format that makes it easy to view videos on a computer and to transmit them electronically between computers. If you need high quality video, then this ain't it. OTOH, if you just want to take a short movie of your family sending their Christmas greetings, and email it to relatives, then I'd much rather use a p&s digital camera's video mode than a high-end digital camcorder. chris
