I think that the top plate of the ME Super is chrome plated brass. The top plates of the PP and SP are chrome plated plastic. The bottom plates are metal. When companies first started switching over to plasic top plates the still used metal bottom plates, so they had to plate the plastic to match the bottom plates. There was much greater cost savings changing the material of the top plate, because the deep drawing needed for a top plate is slow and has to be done just so. I actually rather like the chrome plated plastic. It holds up better than painted plastic and doesn't dent like brass.
From: Chris Brogden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> How much metal is there in the ME Super? Is the top plate on it (and on the Program Plus, Super Program, etc.) actually made of very thin metal or is it plastic? It feels cold like metal would, but it looks cheap like plastic does. :) Come to think of it, how about the bottom plate?
