I guess the 2 questions you need to ask are: 1) Do I need the extra 1/2 stop? 2) Do I need/want autofocus? A third question might be "Do I want a big honking lens?". The A* has a collector premium involved as well...seems to me the FA gets the most bang for the buck, though Pal says it's not so good at infinity.
