Over the last couple of days I have upgraded (from 10.11.x) to 10.12.0, then to 
10.12.1 on my iMac and Meg’s laptop. No drama, no problems. I even woke up Siri 
and welcomed her to my desktop; she said something like “I don’t know what you 
mean. How about a web search…”

Do note that, once you get to 10.12.0, you need to proceed to upgrade to 
10.12.1  In my past experience such upgrades are bundled and take you directly 
to the latest version, so I suspect that .1 was a quick patch and is probably 
important.
