He detunes it to about 1000 horsepower for normal driving, about the same as a Bugatti Veyron. That’s accomplished mainly by reducing the amount of supercharger boost. All of the suspension and steering gear is engineered for stability. In other words the suspension is very stiff and weight transfer and suspension travel are well controlled. It’s a far cry from the original 1969 car. The rear differential is electronically locking, like that of the GT S Mercedes, and the rear tires are very wide and sticky. It’s quite manageable in a straight line. Of course if you get one tire in some wet stuff and hammer the throttle or try to accelerate hard on an uneven road, you’re going to get in trouble rapidly. The guy drives an 18-wheeler cross country, so fast cars don’t scare him.
