BUt actually, I think the colors are right on in those hills... the flowers are lovely. I think a house or barn or a hiker in the field would add to this.. but the purple cast to the red soil there is something I saw in the foothills near Lone Pine and the Inyo's, for instance.

Looks like a place it would be nice to go back to.

Thanks much, Bruce.
I certainly agree with your reaction to the background foothills look. I sort
of explained that with
a reference to my over processing of a dull flat weather day.

That's a pretty fine landscape, Jack. Good title too.

The colours and tones in the background hills don't grab me as well as
the foreground, and after studying it for a while I'm still unsure why
exactly. They seem like how you'd see it in a 50's or 60's vintage
magazine.

Yesterday, my wife came across a web article about a location, 'prox 50 miles
west of us, called Bear Valley.
The article author, not unexpectedly, had wildly over stated the magnificence
of the place, but I brought home
a few shots.
Very hazy day with a thin sun, so to give it some punch, I went somewhat
overboard with PSE10. The background foot hills reflect that effort.
After leaving the hwy, we traveled some 17 miles (according to a road sign) of
hillside gravel road that probably ran some 300' above a canyon stream.
Not planning a return trip.

Jack
