in London the buses and black taxis are the best - they're trained, professional drivers who have probably seen more than their fair share of crap on the streets, and who stand to lose their job if they don't drive professionally all the time. Most London drivers are used to driving among swarms of cyclists and they've become used to it and respond accordingly, but you do get a few rsoles more or less evenly divided between the rest of the population, with perhaps 4WDrivers being slightly in the majority. And scooter riders with L plates that have been on so long they've started to bio-degrade. I've been cycling to work pretty much every day for the last 3.5 months now and I'm still surprised at who is the worst for going through red lights and cycling dangerously - the women I think of as little Miss Marples, generally on a Pashley or similar sit-up-and-beg, basket on the front, wearing nice clothes, apparently completely oblivious of everything around them, sailing through red lights and crazy traffic like Mr. Magoo, leaving a wake of destruction and confusion behind them. Breathtaking sometimes. There's also the cyclists who are taking part in the unspoken secret race, of course, who can't bear to be overtaken.
