Thanks, Brian.

I toyed with the light a bit, but concluded that the falloff enhanced the darkness of her hair and the contrast with her skin.

I don't think it would have worked with a blond or a redhead, but on this particular girl, I thought it added to the shot.

   Hi all,

Went to a local BBQ festival yesterday and took some snapshots. I saw
this young lady standing in line at one of the booths and was thought
I'd try my hand at street portraiture along the lines of Danny Santos.
It's clearly not up to his standards, but I thought it wasn't too shabby
as a first attempt. She was a much more interesting looking girl than
the photo indicates. As the title indicates, she had alabaster skin and
coal black hair, along with bright blue eyes. She didn't resist at all
when I asked. She actually seemed pleased, if a little embarrassed.

Up until now, I've been extremely hesitant about just walking up to
people and asking them if I can photograph them. Turns out, people are
much more willing than I ever would've believed.

Comments, critiques, and cash gifts welcome.

That's a really attractive portrait. I actually like the light fall off
on the left - quite unusual but very effective.

Cheers
