Steven,

Back when my K10D developed a missaligned mirror I was on the phone
with a tech about it and he told me the K10D had memory to store AF
settings for 5 individual lenses, and that if I sent in my (Pentax
brand) lenses with the camera they would callibrate the camera to
them. For some reason I can't remember right now I didn't want to put
my Limiteds, FA 50 and FA 20 into a box going to Colorado, so I just
sent the camera in by itself.

I did ask the tech why Pentax didn't just release a firmware update to
allow us to adjust lenses ourselves, even if it were just 5 (instead
of the 20 the K20D provided). His reply was a polite version of "who
the f**k knows why Pentax does what it does".

I imagine Pentax doesn't want to cannibalised sales of future models,
but guess what Pentax, I never upgraded to the K20D, or the K-7, and
knowing that you could give us user AF adjust and decide not to do it,
pisses me off a lot more than the money you've made by not updating
the firmware.

Your truly,
