OT: would you adam & eve it!

A couple of days ago my wife bought me a kind of hybrid tripod type 
thing at the local flea market for a couple of quid.
It consists of a rather nice Velbon pan & tilt head mounted on a 
Courtenay studio stand.  As my old tripod head is... well... pants... I 
thought I would fit the head on my tripod.  Why can't things be simple?  
It seems my old tripod has a the smaller thread mount and the Velbon 
head has a male thread on the bottom! Oh well, the best laid plans 
etc...  At least I have a nice stand should I ever get some studio lighting.
