Depends on what you consider mid-range.

My HP HDX16 does just fine with PS CS3 (and probably would be faster
with CS4 or CS5 as it's 64-bit capable). It's a Core 2 Duo at
2.166GHz, 4GB RAM with GeForce 9600M video with 512MB VRAM. Pricing's
on the higher side of mid-range (a little over $1100CDN a year ago).
Cheaper than any Mac laptop though, and better spec'd than the plain
MacBooks aside from CPU clockspeed.
