In a strange X-files coincidence, the back of the leaving card has

Two interviews next week - fingers crossed!

Leaving present and card?
Over here you're lucky if they let you have a card-board box to pack up
your personal items to take with you.
that was my leaving present...
In fact, I've been moving stuff home all year, ever since the company was
bought out, in anticipation of this. Speeded up a bit last month when they
made it official. I've spent most of the last 3 weeks cataloguing and
polishing the loose paperclips I found in my desk drawer. I left nothing
behind but an old toothbrush, an empty Outlook file, and a bulging document
archive with a new password I typed with my eyes closed...

Geez, you're nice, one place I was laid off from I was part of the
research team. Nothing on my physical D drive was either backed up or
documented outside of that drive. I ran wipe disk, (military standard),
on it while they watched me clean out my desk and made sure I didn't
steal any valuable company property. I doubt they ever knew how much
they lost. I wish I could say I felt badly but after the broken
promises I didn't.
