I usually carry my tripods - and the mono - either with shoulder straps
or soft cases. Maybe you could fix one of your current monopods to the
outside of the backpack until you get the new one?
If I'm going to be spending a couple of days wandering around chicago,
I don't want my backpack to scream "filled with expensive photo gear".
You switching to Nikon or Canon ? <couldn't resist>
I tried a quick test of using my small tripod, which will fit, as a
monopod, and it'll have to do.
