IF I were to get my shit together enough to attend the PDML GFM this
year, what would it take?
Fly into Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Roanoke?
Hire onto a steamer through the Panama canal to New York. Hop a freight
train out of NCY to Nashville. Walk and hitchhike the rest of the way,
living off the land as you go. I think this is how Doug gets there.
Or fly into Charlotte - several PDML people come up from the Charlotte
area and you can probably get a ride with one. There are actually
regional airports in Johnson City, TN and Ashville, NC that are closer,
but flying into one of those will be more expensive and probably less
convenient.
Who would be passing by and could pick me up?
You could fly into Atlanta and ride with Cory. :) I'd suggest flying
into Pittsburgh and riding with me but I'm not sure how early I'm going
down there this year and I may be traveling by motorcycle again...
>Need to bring my own tent etc.? Food? Fees? Fleas?
You might be able to snag a spot in PDML Central of one of the larger
camping setups (Scott?) but bringing your own is a good idea. I
recommend food. No camping fees. They have mice and every kind of insect
*other* than fleas.
Anyone have a brokedown list of preparations and itinerary? Costs other
than airfare?
I think registration is about $120.00. That covers the entire weekend
itinerary including dinner Saturday night. Really quite a deal. Extra
expenses swill be pretty much limited to what extra food you need.
I have a backpack, but as overweight as I am right now, I'm probably
only good for guarding the beer and campfire building. Could you all
trust me guarding the beer? :-)
Well, someone has to do it. And I've met all the alternatives...
