Over the years I've developed a few simple rules about payment for my services. Occasionally I get soft hearted and bend those rules - and almost invariably end up regretting it.
The one and only time........ I inexplicably let a couple talk me into discounting my price for a full day of wedding coverage. They turned out to be the neediest people I had worked with in my entire wedding photography career (and this was pretty late in it), which made for a lot more frustration for both myself and my assistant, and slowed things down considerably during the portrait session. This led to a slightly short book. This was, of course, a problem during the book presentation meeting. Anyway, as luck would have it, they didn't have enough money that day to pay out the job, so I didn't leave the book and negatives.I never held wedding negs or files, it wasn't worth the effort as far as I was concerned. A few days later, Daddy arranges to pay for and pick up the job. He lands his little red Mercedes convertable in front of the house and tried to stiff me for another 150 bucks. Eventually, it worked out, and I got paid in full but the lesson I learned was to not discount. Six months later the bride's sister called me to do her wedding, and would I give her the same deal I gave her sister? People are strange. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
