And having somebody come over to poke through your gear is a really good way to discover you don't know where everything is.
When Larry stopped by I couldn't find where I'd put the 300/2.8. How do you lose something that large? Surprisingly easily. I've since tracked it down - it was about three feet away from where I'd been sitting, but hidden behind a rollaround file. But it did give me a few mildly troubled hours until I was able to recall when and where I'd last used it, and where I was likely to have put it when I took it out of the car. What with that, and a couple of other things that turned up unexpectedly today I still haven't taken the 50-135 out for a test run, but with any luck I'll manage that tomorrow.
