Its only downside is that it only works with 8-bit color, so I usually get the tonal range of the image in the ballpark in color and 16-bit mode before doing a conversion. Often I'll make several duplicate layers of the original image in color and apply a different BW-Plus filter to each layer. Then I can compare the result quickly by turning off all layers above the one I want to see.

With this conversion I couldn't decide between the Green filter and the Yellow, so I used both, with the Green on top and set to about 60% opacity (I think):
