In the meantime, there's one helluva pilot somewhere out there in NYC tonight.

US Air (still want to call it Piedmont) lost an Airbus A320 this afternoon.

Apparently flew into a flock of geese and got bird strikes on both engines just after take-off & the pilot managed to keep it airborne long enough to clear the Bronx. Didn't have enough to make any of the other airports or return to LaGuardia, but they're calling his ditching in the Hudson River "near perfect".

The crew got all 155 souls off without a major injury.

Circle Line and N.Y. Waterway ferries were Johnny-on-the-spot, and some of the passengers didn't even get their feet wet.

Kudos to everyone responding from NYPD, FDNY and the US Coast Guard, as well as all the other volunteers who pitched in, and especially to one hell of a pilot.
