I haven't priced them recently, but a decent dual-processor G5 machine was going for as much as a used Intel iMac last time I looked. Like Godfrey, I would not recommend getting a G4 at this point in time. I'm happy with my dual 2.5 Ghz G5 tower, but if I were to do it again, I'd take the same money and put it into an Intel Core 2 Duo based iMac. Performance-wise, it'll beat the G5 in most tasks, except maybe those requiring serious graphics speed, like video rendering. The Intel macs are also more future-proof, as rumors that I've heard is that the OSX 10.6 release will be Intel only. Be warned, if you do get a G5 tower, they tend to suck a LOT of power. I need to upgrade the UPS I have mine plugged into (APC 700VA unit) because it doesn't have enough capacity to run the the machine+monitor for more than 2 minutes. -Mat -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
