That's what I do with my K10D, but I don't find the timing to be too
hard.  Keeping my left eye open helps.

I previously shot my wife's dogs with manual-focus Canon FD gear, so I
guess I got used to working that way.  AF.S speeds up prefocusing on
the jump, at least.

Lately, I've been trying to shoot swallows in flight.  I had a
1-in-108 success ratio my first time out.  At least it makes the dogs
seem easy.
