You might need to go into about:config and set or modify the 
"layout.css.dpi" setting.  I've needed to do that on every machine and 
platform I've installed Firefox 3 on so far to get the fonts small 
enough to actually see a page on the screen, instead of just a few words 
from the page.  Google searches will reveal a couple of other relatively 
common hangups.
