Well, not quite, but it does take a well trained eye. After a quarter century
working in the
photofinishing industry, I am able to use software based calibration and get
visually as close
to ideal as what a hardware based calibrator can get.
A bit of background though, back in the 80s, I was working for one of Kodak
Canada's major
customers as their quality control technician. The Kodak people came around and
had my entre
team do a series of visual tests to ensure that none of us had any visual
impairments that would
affect our abilities to do the job.
It turned out hat I had as close to perfect colour acuity as they had seen, and
a certain amount
of pressure was applied to me to move to Toronto and work at the main Kodak
facility untill my
green card could be aquired.
I still wonder sometimes how different my life would have been if I had taken
them up on the
offer.
