What are you complaining about?  It's free! :-)

I sympathize.  If you remember a while back, I had what I thought were
serious noise and banding issues with the *ist D even at lower ISO's.  It
turned out Irfanview was messing up the raw conversion.  I had been using
Irfanview for a little while because I did not have Photoshop on my work
system.  When I open the images in Photoshop at home they were just fine.

Since then I've viewed Irfanview with a 'you get what you pay for
mentality'.  It can be really good but I would only use it if I did not have
something else available.
