Marnie....  I think  this is a bearded Iris  - is that right?

I'm guessing you have some  shots that are less close.

I think it needs either more DOF or less...  the soft edge of the petal 
in the back is a bit  distracting.

Yes, if I shot it now, well, not  now, not the right season, but if I shot it 
these days I expect I would have put  a bit more DOF in it. An Iris of some 
kind, yes. It looked like a caterpillar to  me too. :-) Very pretty flowers, 
they bloom in the side yard each year. I didn't  plant them, a neighbor did, 
but 
glad she did.

Flowers sometimes look a  bit, er, sort of sexual, close up, don't they? Heh.
