I can see how it called to you. I have those experiences myself. I think you have done a pretty good job here, but I still think there is a better shot lurking. The two areas to be looking at are more dramatic lighting and some simplification. It feels just a bit too busy in the foreground. If it were me, I'd probably visit the site at different times of the day to get a feel for best light conditions and then wait for the conditions and get out there again.
