He seems to take the Rule of Thumb, and applies an incomplete understanding of the underlying theory to produce very poor baffelgab, (a science fiction term for complete nonsense dressed up in scintillator or engineering sounding terms). This makes his technical stuff read like particularly poor 1930's Science Fiction.
