Glen,
That will work just fine.  Rewind carefully until you feel the film
leader un-catch from the 'magic fingers' in the take up spool.  Then
open the back and roll in the excess.  This will leave you something
to work with when you go to re-install the roll.  Works well on the
Super Program because of those first 2-3 shots at 1/1000th.
