I hadn't thought of the "good lenses" issue, but that may be important.
I used the FA20-35 as my main (normal) lens on a recent trip to India.
It gives great results and seems nearly perfect for me as a tourist
lens. I am also fond of normal "primes" (The FA50 14. and the DA 40
2.8) and macros (FA100 2.8 and the older A50 2.8). I sometimes use the
FA 135 2.8 and the DA 14 F2.8. I'm just not a big fan of zooms, except
for the 20-25.

Image quality - If you have good glass. For example, the Limited lenses

really shine with the K10D. They were always good with the ist-D, but
the difference between a Limited and anything else really shows with
the K10D.

Nice to have at times, especially when using large lenses, but not
necessary all the time. Nice to be able to remove it when a lighter
load is helpful.

I got one. Seems to be fine.

Don't know. Never used one.

If you use mediocre lenses and/or expect anti-shake to work miracles
you'll be disappointed (except by the huge rear-panel LCD, histogram,
blinking highlight/shadow clipping warning, fast frame rate and general

speed improvement).

Take wise advantage of the anti-shake system, use good glass and it
will knock your socks off.
