Never used it and don't feel like I'm missing anything.  If you do a lot 
of portrait orientation photography it might be worthwhile.  I do some 
of this and don't mind not having another shutter release.  Having a 
second battery already connected would be cool, though.

I got one from Adorama via Amazon.  It works fine, but depletes faster 
than the Pentax battery.

It's not bad.  My M primes are obviously better (as in - I can see the 
difference on the camera's LCD), but it's certainly usable as a 
walkabout lens.

Get the 3rd party battery.  They're cheap enough.  I use mine as a 
backup - the Pentax battery is almost always in the camera.
