When I say serious photographers I'm talking about
pros or near pros. But again that's MY point; Canon
offers choices, two FF cameras and soon to have two
1.3x crop cameras (the new Mark III is also 1.3,
coming in May). 

Also, not every sports guy will like the 5D because it
only has a 3 fps rate. The Mark IIn will do better
than 8 fps, and it will get you just that much closer
to the action with the same lens all for only another
$600.  So some sports shooters are simply spending a
little more for a camera that's better suited to their
type of photography.
