All new bikes here are required to have those wheel-mounted reflectors when they're sold. My brother-in-law is a bike mechanic and he finds them quite frustrating as they significantly unbalance the wheels, causing the work-stand to shake when they're setting up the gear-shifting. Most riders (roadies and MTBers) take the darn things off as soon as they get home from the shop...
