I recently had to replace the seat on my single-speed and found one  
which is designed specifically to support the rider on the sit  
bones.  A couple of minutes sitting on a gel pad provided a  
measurement to determine the correct seat size.

My sit bones also have very little natural padding and I find the new  
seat quite comfortable, but I'm finding myself mostly out-of-the- 
saddle when I'm riding seriously (and I don't mean falling off or  
walking!).
