NO, the major problem is most people think its still
too expensive ( when they dont even know the price )
or havent actually watched anything in HD like
a good movie from beginning to end. HDTV is
a no brainer home entertainment major improvement
for all of mankind, just like silent movies, radio, TV,
color TV, & home video were and are...Not some
government mandated "cash grab" that the masses
have to "suffer" thru.

it... HDTV and DTV in general has been legislated as "mandatory"  since 
the mid 90's.  It hasn't been feasible to force people to switch because

everyone has been fighting over royalties and what type of DRM can be 
inflicted upon users.  As a consequence, it is not nearly as prevalent
as 
it {c|sh}ould be.
