        The price for a true HD experience is still too much for the 
average joe.  Unfortunately, the roughly $1k necessary for a real HD set 
(not a 720p/1080i "capable" set, but a true HD physical-pixel device) is 
all the average person likely puts forth.  The $50-$100/mo necessary for 
all the doodads that go with it (Cablecard, STB, DTV, etc) are still 
beyond most.  Most of the general population gets a HDTV set, connects to 
their DVD player with an S-vid cable, and convinces themselves that the 
picture is "amazing".... just because it cost them $1k-$2k to get it, not 
because it actually *is*.
