Your first statement simply stated they were illegal. Your second statement 
modified that stance slightly with the clause "from everything I've heard", 
but also reinforced your earlier contention by further expanding it with "to 
buy, sell or own".

What we want from you is to have you say, "Well guys, I guess I was wrong 
and you were not breaking the law or doing anything illegal by buying, 
owning, using, or hacking to make become, region-free DVD players.  My 
misunderstanding."
