for a "tasteful" setup of such a bottle and glass, I'd ditch the bright red plate and high-key white background. I'd try to find some warm light and an old/antique table with a nice runner and some accessories lying around (corkscrew, etc). for lighting the glass so you can read the date, I'd suggest trying different angles, no direct flash, and using a darker background (but something "natural" like wood paneling. fun project.
