Unless Pentax have built in hacks for their own known lenses that require this (ie the camera 'knows' the bahaviour of FA100, etc macro lenses and adapts itself when it detects it), then I would guess probably not... It is possible for the lens to report changing focal length to the camera (zooms do it all the time), but I'm betting they don't do it... you could test it easily enough though, just see what your EXIF info tells you for the lens at either end of focus. I'm guessing it won't change. On a related note, I pulled apart my old kit FA 28-80 F3.5-F5.6 lens the other day, to examine the internals...
