The LX was a very special camera when launched and had many
innovations.. Anything that aspires to its cult status will need to
have similar qualities.

It would need to be a class leading camera in many many ways...

eg. 1/500 flash sync
Max shutter speed 1/8000
Wide iso range 50 - 3200
True 16 bit output
Even better SR
Even Faster AF
at least 5fps
Dual card slots ( 2 x SD/SDHC )
built in wireless transfer It would be nice if Pentax made an pocket
device that automatically downloads your shots while you shoot does an
integrity check to verity the tranfer is 100% successful and gives you
the option to delete the shots.
Magnesium Alloy body (a la MZ-S) and bult to withstand severe punishment.

If they can somehow perform a packaging miracle it should also be
small (K10D size would be ok) and lightweight.

That would be a real head turner in the same way the LX was in its time.

The only down side is that I probably won't be able to afford it
unless they pull another rabbit out of a hat and price it in the same
way they priced the K10D.

At least for now the K10D is just right for me. All I need is my
dealer to call and tell me that I can pick mine up.

Regards

Patrick
