I guess I better hop in.

I never buy anything using paypal - but I use it for selling .
Like Amita, I set up a separate bank account for it, and the MINUTE
anyone pays me
I take the money out of paypal and put it in my associated account...
the very rare times when
I've had to issue a refund I sent the person a check, didnt use paypal.
 The only problem
I had was when I changed my email address, rather than added it.

I also rarely sell camera stuff or anything electronic, which I think is
most often where people
have trouble. I'm only pissed that ebay is double dipping into my small
profits. If you don't
have a preferred or business account, Paypal doesnt take anything but
if you want to take
caredit cards you have to be "preferred" and then , whether or not
someone used a credit card
to pay you, they take a cut. Very annoying.

But it seemed to me important to allow credit card payments...

You can block people from bidding on your items if they meet certain
criteria - a little less chance
for grief that way.

I took my credit card off - they don't have my number anymore nor does
ebay. I pay my ebay bills
with my paypal account. This is a tiny bit of discipline I've added to
my habits :)

But do set up a separate account - thats a great idea
