Image quality depends on more than just megapixels, Tom.  Pentax is using a
new processor or converter or whatever those things are called.  And,
comparing some of the Pentax pics to Nikon, Canon, and Sony pics made with
a 10mpx sensor, the Pentax pics have looked better.  So, it's not just
pixel count that matters, but what you do with it, and Pentax, it seems, is
doing pretty well.

I will agree, though, that some are embracing the mpx count as much as
anything else.  But let's be honest, many of those who made the comments
you mentioned also indicated a desire for other features, which the 10D
has.  Another set of reasons why so many are embracing the 10D.

Next week I should have a chance to spend some time with the camera, maybe
two of them, and if the camera lives up to the comments I've read here and
elsewhere, it will be on my short list.  Right now, while still learning
and experimenting with digital, a 6mpx camera is sufficient ;-))
