Paul, Just in case: You may want to check the K10D body with some other flash with a comparable level of functionality. I originally had problems with my DS and my Pentax AF-500 FTZ. It was a deffect of the body, so it was replaced. I remember somebody else on the list had a deffective body that didn't work with the flash properly - right out of the box.
