Doom and gloom predictions seldom come true. If people want specialist shops, specialist shops will survive. And if the big stores start charging too much, an opportunity will be created for smaller shops. But they won't charge too much, because of competition from the internet, and from other large stores. I'm sure that we'll still be able to get whatever we want, at a lower price than we used to pay, by buying online. We just won't be able to fondle things in a local shop. People like Tom C were predicting Pentax's demise a couple of years ago. It hasn't happened. On the contrary, Pentax have just released a great camera which, apart from not being full-frame and not having an aperture simulator, surpasses everybody's hopes at a price below everybody's expectations. Life is sometimes better than we give it credit for.
