I got the 16-45 in a kit with the D. It's a great lens. Almost as good as primes. Later I got the 18-55 for a bargain price and now I find myself walking around with the 18-55 because it's also an excellent lens and it's much smaller. And last but not least because I can use the popup flash without problems (the popup flash is useless with the 16-45 below 20 mm). Don't shoot me for using the pop up flash :-)
