Read my reply to William.  Yes, I know, hell I use a Vivitar S1 35-85mm 
varifocal for gods sake, I'm making an illustration.  It took a fairly 
long time for me to find the information on how to use K/M lenses in the 
manuals for the *ist-D and Ds and that was when I knew what to look for, 
discounting the paragraph that said they were unusable.  The average new 
user who's told,  "..yep, you can use any Pentax K mount lens with 
limitations..." trys it after only using the kit for a while will be 
initially clueless, maybe to the point they give up.  You on the other 
hand read this list.
