Have you have ever looked at the complexity Of an entire k1000? There are hundreds of Tiny parts, all of which probably cost about $35 total and that includes all the part(s) in Question too because even the lowly K1000 has the very Aperture cam sensor that the DSLRS are missing.
The parts and labor are both cheap but that's why I estimated the selling cost at $50 retail and the parts At $5. Retail being 10 times parts cost. I dismantled an ME Super a couple weeks ago and discovered that the aperture simulator is more complex than I think you realize, JCO. If you can find a broken K/M body with that feature, I'd recommend taking it apart for yourself (ask around at local camera shops). Aside from there being about a dozen different parts involved (many very small), I can only imagine how much extra time it might take to install them during the manufacturing process. Don't forget, labor costs must be included in the final price. At the very least, it's fun taking apart a camera to see how it all works. I think you'll be surprised at its complexity. I sure was. John Celio (going back to not getting involved) P.S.: It's my birthday today, JCO, so be nice. -- http://www.neovenator.com AIM: Neopifex "Hey, I'm an artist.
