Actually were were discussing operating M42 BODIES
And LENSES stopped down. It was off-topic and had
Nothing to do with using M42 lenses on the current
DSLRs which would be another matter altogether because
The current DSLRs ( or all PK bodies for that matter), do
Not support auto apeture function with M42 lenses mounted
Via adapter.

Subject: Protecting Lens Mount Contacts

In another thread JCO and Adam are going at it about how easy/difficult
it
may be to focus the DSLR's with an M42 lens stopped down. I decided to
see
for myself how hard it would be to focus (it's not at all difficult).
In
so doing I could see that the various contacts on the lens mount were
exposed. Is there some way to cover those contacts while using a screw
mount lens? Any suggestions?

BTW, it seems easier to use a screw mount lens on the ist-Series camera
than a K mount. At least in the limited circumstances that I've tried
thus
far.
