Companies that don't make what I want/need don't get
me as a customer. Is that simple enough? I would
have bought the *istD three years ago AND probably
upgraded to the K10D too! IF - they both had the
aperture cam sensor to allow open aperture AE
with KM lenses. So far I am balking due to lack of the
features and general degradation of Pentax's long term product
support policies.

Until you ACTUALLY BUY something from Pentax, you're not a customer. At
best you're a POTENTIAL customer. However, you want to buy "from PENTAX
directly with features [you] want" but, unfortunately, those features
are
not offered by Pentax at this time, and may never be offered by Pentax
again. So where does that leave you? Either you have to accept what's
real and compromise, not buy a DSLR from PENTAX, or look elsewhere for a
DSLR that will accept your K/M lenses that use an aperture simulator.
Oh,
wait, THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS. So, what's next - no DSLR or accept
what's available, learn to use your lenses on the camera, and enjoy the
experience as best you can. Or you can come here and complain about the
situation for days on end, remain frustrated and angry, AND end up with
no
DSLR.
