I was a Compuserve member from the startup. I joined years before bulletin boards became part of the web and had one of the first 1000 ID numbers. I loved all their text-based forums, particularly the Apple // forum and Racing Information Service. I had many friends there. Much like the PDML of today. At one time, the streamlined Compuserve was fast on 300 baud dialup! I despise AOL for buying them, making them fat, and ultimately disassembling them. Probably not fair, but that's how I feel.
